Early Years Assistant Gylemuir Primary School Salary: £26,806-£27,032 Hours: 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and motivated Early Years Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with our youngest learners, helping to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child is encouraged to learn, play, explore and thrive. We are looking for someone who has a warm, caring and child-centred approach, who is enthusiastic about supporting young children to learn and develop. You will be patient, positive, reliable, and approachable with the ability to communicate well with children, families, and colleagues. You will be committed to equality, inclusion and supporting every child to reach their potential Gylemuir operates 52 weeks per year, and the successful candidate will be required to work early, core and late shift patterns which rotate on a weekly basis between the hours of 7.45am and 6.00pm, Monday - Friday. • Support children’s learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality play experiences. • Help create an inclusive, welcoming, and engaging learning environment. • Support children to develop their confidence, independence, and social skills. • Build positive and nurturing relationships with children. • Work collaboratively with colleagues. • Help prepare and maintain stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments. • Support children with their individual needs and promote inclusion for all. • Contribute to observations and discussions about children’s learning and development. • Follow the school’s policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health, safety, and wellbeing. Experience of working as an Early Years Assistant is desirable. There is a requirement to be registered with SSSC or equivalent and gain a SVQ level 2 qualification within 3 years. Good communication skills, verbal and written, is required, together with planning and organisational skills. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
