We are looking for a Payroll Accountant to join in Europe Central Area. This is more than just numbers on a page — it’s work that supports God’s children here in Europe. • This payroll position administers all aspects of payroll administration which may require incumbents to be educated in more than one tax jurisdiction. • Payroll includes work focused on designing and/or ensuring compliance with some/all of the following payroll processes including: • Calculating gross and net pay amounts (e.g. salary, overtime, leave, tax withholdings, deductions, payroll liabilities, superannuation, etc.). • Payroll-specific records maintenance and reporting (changes in wage/salary rates; superannuation, tax, mandatory deductions; new hires, terminations, leave of absence, etc.). • Reconciliation of payroll records (e.g. payments, deductions, general ledger entries for wages and tax, department account). • Payroll data verification and administration (sick leave, timesheets, holidays etc.). • Monitor and manage compliance with payroll legislation across jurisdictions, country labor laws, as well as internal policy. • Respond to employee and manager inquiries related to payroll matters. • Provide reports and analysis to support audits, compliance reviews, and management decisions.
• Liaise with external parties such as pension fund managers, governmental entities, local banks to produce requested or statutory annual reports or filing. • Liaise with internal departments both temporal affairs and ecclesiastical departments, at HQ and area level; provide information to HQ and/or other area as requested. • Troubleshoot all functions of the payroll system to prevent or resolve identified issues and see resolution implemented. • Lead payroll-related process improvements and provide recommendations to amend payroll practices and procedures to increase compliance to policy and/or local legislation across multiple countries. • Other projects or assignments as per manager’s direction.
Required:
• 8 years of any combination of related experience in payroll, accounting, taxation or progresstowards or completion of a relevant university (post-secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification. • Strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and statutory compliance. • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and cross-cultural communication skills. • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion. • Attention to detail and accuracy. • Compliance and risk awareness. • Stakeholder engagement. Preferred:
• Certified Payroll/Accounting/Tax Professional or equivalent. • Project management or HR/payroll system certification is an advantage. • Ability to reconcile accounts. • Intermediate - Advanced user for MS Excel. • Knowledge of an additional European language. This position may offer the possibility of remote work within the Europe Central Area.
