• In a student employee capacity, may perform or assist with research or laboratory functions associated with various disciplines. Job Description: Join our lab team this semester to assist with electronics testing for the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This is a hands-on role that is part of building a major international physics experiment.
No prior experience is required. We will provide all necessary laboratory and safety training. The workload is highly flexible; tasks can easily be completed in short blocks between your regular classes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Unpacking incoming boxes and packing finalized printed circuit boards (PCBs) for shipment.
• Sorting and organizing PCBs, and scanning barcodes on PCBs and computer chips.
• Operating specialized equipment, including a laser engraver.
• Depaneling, connecting, and disconnecting PCBs.
• Using custom software to perform automated tests of each PCB.
• Utilizing mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, safety glasses, N95 masks, and anti-static bracelets).
Requirements:
• Must be a currently enrolled Baylor undergraduate student.
• Ability to follow strict technical protocols and safety guidelines reliably.
• Commitment to working up to 10 hours per week as needed.
• Completion of required lab safety and laser safety training upon hire (paid training time).
• May perform laboratory research • May participate in research activities • Adhere to and ensure safety procedures and precautions are followed • May research equipment maintenance and assist with maintaining lab equipment • May assist with documentation associated with research projects • May assist with or participate in carrying out experiments • May assist with managing laboratory inventory or supplies • May assist in preparing research reports • May assist with analyzing data, testing, and interpreting results • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission • Ability to comply with University policies • Maintain regular and punctual attendance Employer: Baylor University Work Location: BSB Work Address: 101 Bagby Ave, Waco, TX 76706
