Manager Network Engineering And OPS
Job Description: The Manager of Network Engineering and Operations leads a team of network engineers responsible for the design, deployment, and day-to-day operation of the enterprise network across LAN/WAN, wireless, firewall/security, monitoring, cloud interconnect, and data center domains. This is a working manager role: you will set technical direction and roadmap while staying close enough to the architecture to make sound design calls, unblock the team, and own escalations. You balance people leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on technical depth.
Your Responsibilities: • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of network engineers across design and operations functions; own hiring, performance management, and career development. • Define and drive the network technology roadmap in alignment with security, IT, and business priorities. • Own architecture and design decisions for major initiatives (segmentation, refresh, SD-WAN/SASE, NAC, observability) and review HLD/LLD deliverables. • Run network operations to defined SLAs/SLOs, including incident, problem, and change management and CAB representation. • Manage vendor relationships, BOM and capacity planning, and budget for network programs. • Establish operational rigor: monitoring, runbooks, escalation matrices, KPIs, and continuous improvement. • Promote a local culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, professionalism, and service accountability, in an ADM global environment. • Partner with global engineering leads to advance automation, observability, configuration standards, lifecycle remediation, and service simplification initiatives. • Partner with operations leadership and MSP/vendor teams to improve execution quality, accountability, SLA follow-up, and operational reporting. • Drive continuous improvement by identifying repeat issues, process friction, documentation gaps, automation opportunities, and operational handoff weaknesses. Your Profile: • People leadership. 6 to 8 or more years directly managing a technical engineering team, with a demonstrated record of hiring, mentoring, retaining talent, and managing performance. • Strategic planning. Proven ability to translate business and security objectives into a multi-year network roadmap, prioritize competing initiatives, and communicate trade-offs to executive stakeholders. • Hands-on technical depth. Expert-level command of enterprise routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, L2/L3 design), wireless, and network security; able to personally review designs, troubleshoot major incidents, and validate engineering work, not just delegate it. • Project management. Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and deliver concurrent network projects on scope, timeline, and budget, including resource planning, risk and dependency management, stakeholder communication, and CAB/change coordination through production cutover. • Operations discipline. Direct experience running network operations to SLAs with mature ITSM practices, including incident/problem/change management, CAB, and metrics-driven improvement. • Cross-functional execution. Track record delivering complex network programs end to end (design through production cutover) while coordinating across security, infrastructure, and vendor teams. Nice-to-Haves • Modern edge and access expertise. Hands-on experience with SD-WAN, SASE, ZTNA, and NAC (for example, Cisco ISE, 802.1X, segmentation/microsegmentation). • Observability and automation. Familiarity with network telemetry and monitoring platforms (for example, SolarWinds) and with automation/IaC approaches to reduce operational toil. • Industry certifications. CCNP/CCIE or equivalent, plus a security or cloud certification. • Cloud interconnect and data center. Experience with cloud network connectivity (Direct Connect/ExpressRoute) and data center fabric design. • Program and financial acumen. Comfort with vendor negotiation, capacity and budget planning, and lightweight PM/RACI ownership across concurrent workstreams
