The Role At ADM Europoort, an opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Manager Execution & Logistics – Oil Containers. As Assistant Manager, you are responsible for the planning and execution of logistics activities, the coordination of transports for customers, the efficient processing of purchase and sales contracts, and the handling of logistics documentation for containerized products in isotanks and/or Flexibags. You maintain daily contact with the commercial organization, including our Trading departments, the Production organization, third-party suppliers, customers and forwarders. During the absence of the Execution & Logistics Manager, you take the operational lead for the Containers team and are responsible for day-to-day operational matters and decision-making. Formal people-management and line-management responsibilities remain with the Execution & Logistics Manager. The position consists of approximately 75% operational responsibilities and 25% focus on development, projects and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Execution and Logistics Manager, the main duties of this role will include: • Acts as operational backup to the Execution & Logistics Manager for day-to-day work-related matters and takes the operational lead for the Containers team during the Manager’s absence. • Owns the planning, coordination and execution of containerized vegetable oil shipments, from contract nomination through final delivery, including Flexibag and ISO tank operations, ensuring agreed service levels and customer requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively. • Coordinates and optimizes containerized oil movements, balancing customer requirements, available operational capacity, freight, other related costs and ensuring effective execution of daily operations. • Provides operational guidance and support to team members in the execution of contracts, administration of contract positions and handling of import and export shipping documentation. • Acts as an operational point of contact and escalation point for the Containers team, coordinating with Trading, Finance, Operations and other ADM locations, as well as customers, counterparties, shipping agents, transport providers, inspection companies and terminals. • Maintains and develops relationships with customers and logistics partners to ensure effective execution of containerized oil shipments and high service levels.
: • Contributes to the coaching, training and development of team members through knowledge sharing, guidance and on-the-job support. • Applies existing expertise in vegetable oil logistics, supply chain management and contract execution, contributing to the continued development and operational excellence of the Containers Department. • Partners with the Execution & Logistics Manager in driving collaboration, continuous improvement and operational excellence within the Containers Department, actively contributing ideas on how to best organize the team, allocate resources and utilize people’s strengths and capabilities, as well as identifying opportunities for process improvements, projects and automation. • A company mobile phone will be provided for work-related communication. The Assistant Manager is expected to remain reachable during working hours and, in exceptional situations, outside normal working hours when operational circumstances require it. • Promotes collaboration, operational excellence, safety and customer focus within the Containers team and across the department.
The Candidate The successful candidate: • Has a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or another relevant field. • Has good knowledge and experience of international logistics processes, preferably in a commercial and operational environment. • Has relevant experience in container planning and logistics, preferably within the vegetable oil or liquid bulk industry. Experience with third-party account management is preferred. Knowledge of Flexibag and/or isotank operations is a strong advantage. • Has a good understanding of contract execution and the commercial and operational aspects of containerized shipments. • Has strong analytical and organizational skills and is able to manage multiple priorities, while keeping an overview of daily operations. • Has good stakeholder management skills and is comfortable working with Trading, Logistics, Production, Finance, customers, third-party logistics providers and other external partners. • Has good communication skills in Dutch and English and is able to bring different departments and stakeholders together when needed. • Is proactive, reliable and takes ownership of daily operational matters. • Can work independently and take the lead on operational matters when required, while knowing when to involve the Execution & Logistics Manager. • Works closely with the Execution & Logistics Manager and is able to build a relationship based on trust, with a shared focus on the team and the business. • Is a team player and is willing to support the coaching, training and development of team members through knowledge sharing and guidance. • Can work well under pressure and remains focused when priorities change or when several issues need to be handled at the same time. • Has an interest in improving processes and ways of working and is willing to contribute to automation and other improvement initiatives. • Has advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables and complex formulas, and is comfortable working with ERP systems and other digital applications.
