Position Summary/Details: Responsible for executing corporate accounting activities related to Tampa Electric Company and its affiliates, including enterprise-wide accounting with a focus in ERP accounting systems, general ledger processing and journal entry creation. Responsibilities include cash clearing processes, specific accounting, and analysis, and supporting other financial and regulatory reporting requirements. Key Responsibilities and/or Learning Objectives Preparing Journal Entries Payment Postings Creation of Invoices Audit Requests Assistance with Closeout Any ad hoc misc. requests as needed Location of Co-op: 3600 Midtown Dr Tampa, FL. 33607 Working Conditions Mostly in a normal office environment Preferred Availability: Part – Time (20-30 hours) QUALIFICATIONS: Education: The successful applicant should be enrolled in an accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline. Co-Op Requirements: To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. Degree : Accounting or Finance Preferred/Related Discipline : Accounting or Finance Year in School : No preference Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities MS Excel Basic Accounting (debit/credit) A pre-employment drug screening, physical exam, as well as a background check (including employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening.
