Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to Parnall located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). General Summary of Job Responsibilities The Senior Regulatory Consultant provides strategic leadership and ownership of regulatory initiatives supporting Customer Experience and Operations or Electric Supply Regulatory Strategy. Key responsibilities include managing regulatory filings and proceedings related to Energy Waste Reduction, Demand Response, Voluntary Green Pricing, Renewable Natural Gas, Renewable Energy Plans, Renewable Cost Reconciliation, Power Supply Cost Recovery (PSCR) Plans and Reconciliations, depreciation, and general rate cases. The role also leads stakeholder engagement efforts and conducts regulatory landscape analyses to ensure optimal cost recovery and regulatory alignment in support of the Company’s Retail Strategy objectives. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and execution of all Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) regulatory filings associated with the Customer Experience Organization’s Retail Roadmap. Responsibilities include developing regulatory strategies; preparing and sponsoring testimony, exhibits, and discovery responses in MPSC proceedings; representing the Customer Experience organization and the Company in internal and external working groups; and providing expert regulatory analysis, industry benchmarking, and policy assessments. The role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by identifying emerging regulatory risks and opportunities and recommending actions that support the Company’s strategic and operational goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage regulatory filings with internal and external business partners. Analyze the strategic, operational, and financial impacts of business proposals and external regulatory or legislative initiatives. Lead regulatory initiatives by developing and sponsoring testimony in MPSC proceedings, while collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure operational alignment with approved regulatory positions. Provide monthly and annual regulatory reporting in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Research regulatory frameworks to inform management of potential risks and opportunities. Develop stakeholder analyses and engagement strategies with key stakeholders and intervenors to support optimal recovery outcomes. Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to work across multiple areas of the electric utility industry. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Broad understanding of retail and wholesale rate-making principles. Knowledge of regulatory processes, testimonial requirements, and procedures for state commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Strong systems thinking with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Accounting, Fiance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field, with four (4) or more years of experience in a regulatory role [OR] Associate degree with six (6) or more years of relevant experience [OR] High school diploma or GED with eight (8) or more years of relevant experience Why should you join our team?
