Job Summary The Multimodality Technologist – CT/X-Ray performs diagnostic imaging procedures in two or more imaging disciplines, with at least 25% of work focused in an advanced modality such as Computed Tomography (CT). Under the general supervision of a Radiologist, the Multimodality Technologist provides high-quality CT and X-ray imaging for hospital and ambulatory patients as ordered by physicians and other licensed providers to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Essential Functions
• Perform high-quality CT and diagnostic X-ray according to established imaging protocols and quality standards. • Prepare and position patients for CT and radiographic examinations using appropriate equipment settings, exposure factors and positioning techniques. • Maintain productivity and image quality while providing timely diagnostic imaging services. • Demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety, radiation dose monitoring and dose reference levels, including appropriate actions when established thresholds are exceeded. • Properly utilize iSTAT point-of-care testing to obtain creatinine levels when required. • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, explain procedures and assess each patient's ability to tolerate the examination. • Ensure the correct imaging exam is performed on the correct patient while following established patient identification procedures. • Follow safety, infection prevention, medication and radiation protection policies and procedures. • Utilize proper sterile technique and hand hygiene when assisting with or performing invasive imaging procedures. • Maintain CT, X-ray and other imaging equipment and work areas according to safety, quality and cleanliness standards. • Work with engineers, physicists and department leadership to support optimal equipment performance. • Obtain and verify required documentation, including imaging orders, patient history and pregnancy status. • Maintain accurate medical imaging records according to departmental policies and procedures. • Assist with imaging supply inventory and department operations as needed. • Ability to perform CT and X-ray imaging accurately, efficiently and independently. • Strong understanding of anatomy, patient positioning, diagnostic imaging principles and radiation safety. • Ability to explain imaging procedures and help patients feel comfortable throughout their examination. • Strong communication, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced hospital environment. • Commitment to providing timely, accurate and patient-centered imaging services. • Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations, including administering first aid and utilizing emergency equipment. • Commitment to maintaining current clinical knowledge and continuing education. • Ability to serve as a preceptor and provide training to new team members or existing staff on new services and initiatives. • Ability to take call if required. • EDUCATION - Graduate of an Accredited Program • EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 year of Experience CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION
• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer. • Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), unless the role is MRI or Ultrasound. • ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT)
