Job DescriptionThis contract Registered Nurse role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, level 1 trauma center environment. The nurse assesses patients before procedures, reviews clinical information, coordinates with physicians, and ensures safe, well-documented care using electronic health records. This position requires strong clinical judgment, oncology nursing experience, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.Responsibilities
• Assess patients prior to visits by reviewing medical history, laboratory results, and physician orders to ensure appropriate and safe care. • Verify informed consent, patient identification, and visit documentation in accordance with clinical and regulatory requirements. • Prepare patients emotionally and physically for procedures, explaining processes and addressing questions or concerns. • Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to address patient-specific needs and adjust care plans as appropriate. • Manage inventory in the procedure room, ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available and properly maintained. • Prepare and organize procedure rooms prior to patient arrival to support efficient and safe clinical workflows. • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record system. • Conduct verbal assessments and chart reviews to support clinical decision-making and appropriate coding. • Provide direct patient care in alignment with oncology nursing standards and general RN practice guidelines. • Participate in quality and safety reviews and initiatives as appropriate to improve patient outcomes and clinical processes. Essential Skills
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state. • Graduate of an accredited nursing program. • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. • 2 to 3 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting. • Experience in oncology nursing and oncology patient care. • Proficiency with electronic health record systems for documentation and chart review. • Ability to perform accurate verbal assessments and clinical chart reviews. • Knowledge of coding principles related to patient care documentation. • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams. • Strong critical thinking skills to assess patient conditions and respond appropriately. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple patients, tasks, and documentation requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience working in a trauma center or high-acuity hospital environment. • Ability to adapt to changing patient volumes and clinical priorities. • Comfort working in contract roles, typically in 6-month engagements with 13-week increments. • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. • Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a level 1 trauma center with over 400 beds, offering a dynamic and high-acuity clinical environment. Nurses work 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. shifts and must be available to work any day of the week, with scheduling based on facility needs. The setting involves active use of electronic health record systems, procedure rooms, and oncology-focused patient care. Interviews for qualified candidates are conducted virtually, and the culture emphasizes quality, safety, teamwork, and compassionate patient care in a large hospital environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
