About this role
I am currently working with a well-established organisation in Cambourne who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function.
This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys having ownership of a broad range of finance duties rather than being one small part of a larger finance team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and transactional finance activities, working across both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Key responsibilities:
* Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records * Raising and processing customer invoices and maintaining the sales ledger * Allocating receipts and monitoring outstanding customer balances * Processing supplier payments and assisting with payment runs * Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies * Processing employee expenses and maintaining supporting documentation * Completing regular bank reconciliations * Maintaining accurate bookkeeping and financial records * Responding to supplier and customer queries * Assisting with routine month-end activities and reconciliations * Dealing with general finance administration as required * Taking ownership of the day-to-day transactional finance function
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience in an accounts or finance role, ideally with exposure to both AP and AR * Good practical bookkeeping and transactional finance experience * Experience of working independently or in a standalone/small finance environment * Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work * Good Excel skills and confidence using financial systems * Good communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with routine finance queries * A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved across all areas of the day-to-day finance function
This is a good opportunity for an Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper who enjoys a varied role and would welcome the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day finance responsibilities. The role would particularly suit someone who has worked in a small finance team or standalone finance position and enjoys being involved in all aspects of the transactional finance function.
