Iowa Association of Area Education Agencies (IAAEA) The Iowa Association of Area Education Agencies (IAAEA) is seeking a highly qualified educational leader to serve as Director of IAAEA. This statewide leadership role provides strategic, operational, fiscal, and organizational oversight for the Association and supports coordination and alignment across Iowa’s Area Education Agency system. The Director works collaboratively with the IAAEA Board, chief administrators, system leaders, vendors, and statewide partners to advance organizational priorities and ensure effective governance, fiscal stewardship, and compliance with state and federal requirements. Responsibilities include facilitating the IAAEA Board, overseeing the statewide IAAEA budget, supervising staff, managing contracts and memoranda of understanding, monitoring organizational and project deliverables, fostering innovation, and identifying future opportunities for the AEA system. This is a part-time statewide leadership position with a contract of up to 48 days per year, generally averaging approximately four days per month or one day per week. Statewide travel may be required. Compensation is expected to range from $30,000–$48,000 annually, based on the number of contracted days worked. Qualifications include a master’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred. A Professional Administrator License is required, with a PreK–12 Superintendent/AEA Administrator endorsement preferred. Candidates should demonstrate advanced leadership experience and success managing complex, large-scale systems and budgets. Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential, along with knowledge of Iowa accountability systems, including IDEA-DA and ESSA. The position reports to the Lead Chief Administrator.
