The Role We are seeking an agile, innovative, and highly adaptable Elementary School Permanent Substitute to start immediately. This role demands an educator who can effortlessly transition between classroom instruction, inquiry-based learning in our specialized studios, and collaborative curriculum delivery—ensuring seamless educational continuity for students in Grades 1–5. Key Responsibilities
• Instructional Continuity & Excellence: Provide expert classroom coverage across elementary grade levels, maintaining a stimulating, supportive, and structured environment aligned with ACS Athens standards.
• Math/Science Studio Leadership: Guide, mentor, and empower Elementary School students in the Math/Science Studio during and after school, fostering inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on problem-solving.
• Innovative & Adaptive Pedagogy: Experiment with progressive teaching strategies, leveraging educational technology to boost engagement, confidence, and personalized learning outcomes.
• Curriculum Monitoring & Differentiation: Continually assess student understanding and flexibly adjust instruction, materials, and learning pathways to meet diverse learning needs.
• Cross-Grade Collaboration: Design and facilitate engaging multi-week projects and interactive workshops tailored to specific grade levels, actively contributing to team, grade-level, and departmental goals.
• Inclusion & Child Safeguarding: Champion an inclusive, culturally responsive learning space that respects diversity and upholds the highest standards of student safety, well-being, and child protection.
• Professional Evolution: Continuously refine pedagogical practices through active participation in professional development and research-informed teaching.
Qualifications & Competencies
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited institution (Master's Degree preferred).
• Licensure: Valid Teaching License/Certification for Grades 1–5.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct academic support to students at the middle or high school level (Grades 1–5), preferably within an international or American-curriculum setting.
• Tech-Forward Mindset: Fluency in integrating modern educational tech tools into daily classroom instruction.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills tailored for students, colleagues, and parents.
