About this role

Lincoln Public School District is accepting applications from qualified candidates who are interested in working within our district schools during the 2026-2027 school year. Function: Provide those supportive services necessary for assisting the classroom teacher in his/her task of providing quality instruction to students. Reports to: Teachers(s), Principal to whom he/she is assigned and Director of Student Services Responsibilities: Perform those tasks assigned by the classroom teacher or the building Principal. Work with small groups of students, and/or individual student as assigned reinforcing teacher planned and directed activities. Perform those aide services necessary to help the teacher in his/her instructional lessons. Examples of aide services include, but may not be limited to: physically assisting a student on/off of the toilet and or with personal hygiene; transfer student into and out of wheelchair, electric wheelchair, stroller or any other transfer as needed; set-up and monitor student(s) while eating breakfast and or lunch; assist student as needed during adaptive physical education class. Perform related duties as assigned. Those who do not meet the minimum requirements listed below and wish to pursue a career as a Teacher Assistant, may visit the Rhode Island Department of Education's website to review qualifications and to enroll in an approved program today.

1.Be of good character; 2.Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma; 3.Completion of a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). Three (3) exceptions to this particular qualification: i.Those hired before January 1, 1999 ii.Those with certification as a TA in another state, iii.Those with an associates degree or bachelors degree AND who have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program standards. It is a district's decision whether coursework or other training is consistent with the teacher assistant program standards. 4.Meet one (1) of the following requirements: a.Successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment. OR b.Complete at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education OR c.Obtain an associates or higher degree. Those who do not meet the minimum requirements listed below and wish to pursue a career as a Teacher Assistant, may visit the Rhode Island Department of Education's website to review qualifications and to enroll in an approved program today. If selected for hire, before being added to our substitute list, you will be required to provide the following items in person: 1. W-4 2. Federal BCI ( Done through State Attorney General's Office) 3. I-9 (Must be filled out in person) Please bring appropriate documentation.
