JOB DESCRIPTION Academic Dean Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Management

• Assist the school principal with the overall administration of the instructional program at the campus level and coordinate assigned student activities and services.

• Provide leadership in the identification, evaluation, and selection of instructional programs, resources, and equipment for increased student achievement.

• Facilitate improved student performance through the professional growth of teachers and staff as measured by course work and assessment data.

• Provide quality instructional support and feedback on the instructional effectiveness of the campus.

• Work with the principal to develop and implement the master schedule.

• Assist in designing and providing professional development based on data analysis and campus needs.

• Meet regularly with academic department heads and assistant principals to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum.

• Manage Response to Intervention (RTI) programs including assisting with the identification of at-risk students and coordinating early intervention strategies.

• Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.

• Assists the Principal in carrying out the general duties of the principalship in organization, administration, and supervision.

School/Organizational Climate

• Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.

• Communicate effectively with students and staff

School/Organizational Improvement

• Facilitate and assist with the development of an effective campus improvement plan based on student needs.

• Plan and coordinate tutorials, interventions, additional support and resources, and other instructional programs for students in need of assistance.

• Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that the findings are used to make instructional programs and services more effective.

• Help principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain and records to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.

Personnel Management

• Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.

• Perform Academic walkthroughs

JOB DESCRIPTION Academic Dean Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

• Supervise operations in principal's absence.

• Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities.

• Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.

• Is familiar with the disposition of records and assists the Principal in this function as required by the Records Management Officer.

• Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities and, as appropriate, delegations of authority as may be required by the Principal.

School/Community Relations

• Articulate the school's mission to community and solicit its support in realizing mission.

• Increase awareness of the school's guidelines and expectations for student learning and achievement among students,staff, and parents.

• Assists the Principal in promoting positive community relations

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with School principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, Paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional districtwide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
