TITLE: Youth Mental Health Coordinator – Community Health
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ages 18–24 (required for Maryland Service Year Option participation)
• Passionate about mental health, youth engagement, or community service
• Strong communication skills and interest in building trust with young people
• Experience or interest in working in schools, health, or nonprofit settings
• Open to training in Youth Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed approaches,
Restorative Practices, and facilitation basics
• Experience working with youth/youth groups, preferred
REPORTS TO: School Administrator and/or School Social Worker SUPERVISES: N/A JOB GOAL: This service position expands frontline capacity to address youth mental health challenges across Maryland. Through non-clinical engagement, the Youth Mental Health Coordinator helps bridge the gap between young people and services—while building a more connected and stigma-free community. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct outreach and engagement with youth (ages 11–15) throughout the school year.
• Build trusted relationships with youth to promote social-emotional well-being and reduce
stigma around mental health.
• Assist with referrals and navigation to in-house or community-based mental health
services.
• Support mental health awareness events, workshops, or wellness campaigns.
• Help develop and/or facilitate group activities related to emotional regulation, social-
emotional learning (SEL), Restorative Practices, and peer connection.
• Collaborate with school staff, counselors, case managers, or health educators.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Grant Funded Full-time, 30 hour/week, 6.5hr/day (includes a 30 minute lunch); SY26-27 Expected Start date October 19, 2026 - June 18, 2027 SALARY LANE : Grant Funded for 1 year. $25,500 FLSA STATUS: Exempt EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
