Shaw Welcome Center Receptionist Reports To: Building Principal and/or District Administrator Position Summary The Shaw Welcome Center Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, visitors, and community members entering Shaw High School. The Receptionist is responsible for providing a welcoming, professional, organized, and safe environment while assisting visitors and directing them to the appropriate school or district personnel. The Receptionist supports the District's commitment to excellent customer service and helps ensure that every person entering Shaw High School feels welcomed, respected, and supported. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. • Previous receptionist, clerical, office, school, or customer-service experience preferred. • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally. • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds. • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and data entry. • Ability to answer and manage multiple telephone calls. • Ability to organize information and maintain accurate records. • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. • Ability to remain professional and courteous in challenging situations. • Must successfully complete all required background checks and employment requirements. Customer Service Expectations The Shaw Welcome Center Receptionist is expected to create a positive first impression of Shaw High School and the East Cleveland City School District. The Receptionist should:

• Welcome every person with courtesy and respect. • Listen carefully to questions and concerns. • Help visitors identify where they need to go. • Avoid sending families from office to office without clear direction. • Seek assistance when unsure how to address a family's needs. • Maintain professionalism even during difficult interactions. • Help make the Shaw Welcome Center a place where students and families feel valued and supported. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet students, parents, staff, visitors, and community members in a friendly and professional manner. • Provide excellent customer service in person and by telephone. • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls to the appropriate staff member or department. • Assist families with general questions regarding Shaw High School and District services. • Direct parents and families to the appropriate staff for enrollment, registration, attendance, transportation, student records, and other services. • Maintain the visitor sign-in and sign-out process. • Follow District procedures for checking visitor identification and issuing visitor passes. • Notify appropriate staff when visitors arrive for appointments. • Work cooperatively with school administrators and Safety and Security staff to maintain a safe and secure entrance. • Monitor the Welcome Center and immediately report safety or security concerns. • Provide visitors with directions and basic information about the school. • Assist parents and community members who may need help identifying the correct department or staff member. • Receive and distribute mail, packages, documents, and deliveries as assigned. • Maintain an organized, professional, and welcoming reception area. • Assist with copying, filing, scanning, data entry, and other clerical responsibilities. • Maintain accurate records and logs as required. • Protect confidential student, employee, and District information. • Communicate professionally with students, families, employees, and community members. • Remain calm and professional when assisting individuals who may be upset or frustrated. • Follow all District policies, procedures, safety requirements, and confidentiality expectations. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or District administration. Confidentiality The Shaw Welcome Center Receptionist may have access to confidential student, family, personnel, and District information. All information must be handled in accordance with District policies and applicable state and federal requirements. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, including sitting or standing for extended periods, operating standard office equipment, communicating by telephone and in person, and occasionally lifting or moving routine office materials.
