About this role
Anticipated Opening School Spring #5927954 Position Title: O'Dell Curriculum Work Group Specialist Compensation: $46.00 per hour (Up to 10 hours total) Position Overview O'Dell Education provides a high-floor, high-ceiling curriculum. To ensure true access for all, we must build instructional on-ramps—scaffolds directly tethered to grade-level rigor—rather than simply modifying core content away. The O'Dell Work Group will lead the strategic development of high-leverage scaffolds designed to ensure all students, including English Language Learners (ELL) and students with specialized learning needs, engage deeply with module rigor. By prioritizing Instructional Coherence, this team will build a unified library of resources that seamlessly align intervention and specialized services directly to Grade-Level Tier I instruction. Core Responsibilities
• Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Mapping
• Analyze upcoming O'Dell modules to pinpoint key "Cognitive Friction Points" where students typically struggle with text or task complexity.
• Develop a menu of proactive scaffolds (semantic maps, sentence frames for Socratic Seminars, adapted graphic organizers) that maintain high expectations while providing targeted support.
• Tiered Alignment & Coherence
• Create specific "Bridge Resources" for Interventionists and Special Education teachers to pre-teach vocabulary and foundational concepts from core modules.
• Align all scaffolds with the Gradual Release of Responsibility model to guide students toward independent ownership of focus questions.
• Digital Scaffolding Toolkit Curation
• Build and organize a district-wide digital repository containing:
• Visual Glossaries: Supporting Tier II and Tier III vocabulary development.
• Writing Frames: Supporting text-based, evidence-aligned claims.
Desired Qualifications
• Equity Mindset: Firm belief that rigor belongs to all students and a commitment to removing barriers rather than lowering expectations.
• Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex standards into manageable, sequential instructional steps.
• Collaboration: Experience working across departments (General Education, Special Education, and ESL) to build cohesive learning experiences.
