Westborough Public Schools seeks a Long Term Substitute Mandarin Teacher for Westborough High School This is a 1.0 FTE assignment teaching 5 classes for approximately 12 weeks. The classes include: Mandarin II, Mandarin III, Mandarin IV, Mandarin V and co-taught World Language Class approximately: November 16, 2026 - February 12, 2027 The Westborough Public Schools seek professionals who are excited to join a high-performing district where academic excellence, equity and wellness are our core values.

Job Title: Mandarin Teacher Reports to: Principal and World Language Director Department: World Language Work Year: LTS - 11/16/26-2/12/27 Compensation: Per diem, $290 per day, non benefited QUALIFICATIONS:
• Professional Certification:
• MA DESE license as a Mandarin Teacher;
• SEI Endorsement preferred
• AP Certification preferred
• Specialized Knowledge: adolescent development, World Language curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, technology integration
• CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
• Preferred Experience:
• Experience teaching English Language learners in a diverse public school setting
• Experience teaching students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
• Strong background in language instruction
• Highly desirable to have experience with:
• ACTFL Proficiency Standards
• Proficiency-focused curriculum and instruction
• Collaborative department planning

• Plans and implements differentiated lessons and ongoing formative assessments

• Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
• Creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment that embraces the diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning
• Monitors students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials or assessments when appropriate
• Evaluates and refines instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning, engagement, and confidence in learning;
• Participates in professional development activities, internal and external, and meets requirements for licensure recertification;
• Participates in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed
• Any other relative duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mandarin teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities, except to direct any paraeducators who may be working with a student in the classroom. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
