Position: Resource Counselor Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED minimum, college hours or degree preferred. • Three years of experience in related work areas is preferred. • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Goal The goal of the Resource Counselor is to assist students and families that have been referred. You will plan, develop, coordinate and provide case management, and supportive services to meet the needs of students. Reports To Assigned Supervisor RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Performance Responsibilities

• Development and coordination of a weekly community service and/or weekly intern activity for student participation. • Coordination of initial and follow-up health screening with the HRS Public Health Unit. • Coordination with HRS Public Health for in-school educational programming in the areas of communicable disease, immunization, and human growth and development. • Coordination and collaboration with Juvenile Justice contact(s) for participant programming. • Coordinate Hendry County Sheriff's DARE Program drug abuse/prevention activities with resource officers. • Coordinate with Private Industry Council's JTPA program for intern follow-up summer employment. • Participate and become certified in CPI/TEAM Training and Reality Therapy Techniques. • Be able to use computer courseware applications in order to implement individual student academic plans and monitor student progress. • Responsible for documenting student progress in each student's program notebook. • Maintains all records such as grades, attendance, and lesson plans for students. Assumes primary responsibility for determining academic levels and instructional needs. Has direct instructional contact with students. • Develops educational, behavioral, transitional, and vocational/career goals of students. • Initiate participant family contact and organize support activities such as home visits, educational programs, and service assistance. Responsible for parent conferences. • Provides for individual and group counseling activities. • Maintain control and diffuse crisis situations involving verbally and physically aggressive students. • Monitors students at all times. Assumes primary responsibility for classroom discipline and security. • Monitors truancy of students and makes agency referrals for families of truant students. • Frequently required to transport students. • Ability to perform routine custodial duties as well as building maintenance. • Assumes the responsibility to report for evacuation shelter support in the event of an emergency and any other duties assigned during an emergency evacuation. • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent, or the board. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. In an emergency, workers may be required to restrain a physically active individual as a temporary safety precaution. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Calendar Months: 10 Month Salary Schedule: Non-Instructional (Bargaining) Pay Grade: 99 Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board. This position is entirely dependent on grant funding. Employment is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. In the event that grant funding is reduced or discontinued, this position may be affected, up to and including termination of employment. EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
