Job Selection Expectations:

The School Psychologist Will:
• Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and reevaluations and prepare Evaluation Reports and Reevaluation Reports.
• Administer, score, and interpret appropriate cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and other assessments.
• Participate as an active member of multidisciplinary evaluation, IEP, Section 504, and gifted education teams.
• Assist teams in determining eligibility for special education services and identifying appropriate educational needs, supports, and programming.
• Determine student eligibility for Section 504 Plans and assist teams in providing recommendations regarding appropriate accommodations and supports.
• Conduct evaluations and assist multidisciplinary teams in determining eligibility for gifted education services and identifying appropriate educational programming.
• Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, families, and other professionals regarding academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with building-level MTSS teams in data review, intervention planning, progress monitoring, and problem solving.
• Develop Functional Behavioral Assessments and the development of positive behavioral supports when appropriate.
• Support evidence-based interventions designed to improve student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes.
• Communicate evaluation results and recommendations to families and educational teams in a clear, understandable, and respectful manner.
• Maintain accurate records and complete evaluations within required state and federal timelines.
• Collaborate with outside providers and agencies when appropriate.
• Participate in professional development and district initiatives related to student achievement, special education, mental health, behavior, and school psychology.
• Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
These responsibilities align closely with PDE's current scope for certified school psychologists, which specifically includes psychological, academic and behavioral assessment; behavioral and mental-health supports; progress monitoring; consultation; counseling as an appropriate related service; and coordination with community providers.
Qualifications:
• Required:
• Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education School Psychologist PK–12 certification, or eligibility to obtain appropriate Pennsylvania certification.
• Graduate-level preparation in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of IDEA, Chapter 14, Section 504, and applicable Pennsylvania special education regulations and procedures.
• Knowledge of psychoeducational assessment, data-based decision making, MTSS, behavioral supports, and evidence-based educational practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage multiple evaluations, responsibilities, and legally required timelines.
• Preferred:
• Previous experience as a school psychologist in a public school setting.
• Experience working across elementary and secondary grade levels.
• Experience with MTSS, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Positive Behavior Support Plans, and students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania special education processes and documentation.
