POSITION SUMMARY As the first interacting role with families registering to the Lynn Public Schools, the Family Coordinator works collaboratively as a team member to welcome new students and their families and ensure a smooth transition for new students. Is responsible for providing a welcoming environment and the overall management of appointments or walk-in families, connecting them with the right department or service. Through working closely with families, the Family Coordinator will ensure equitable access to school programs and services QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree

• Demonstrated fluency in both English and Spanish languages (oral and written)

• Demonstrated experience working in human services with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present effectively to diverse audiences

• Proficient in computer applications, including student information systems, content management systems, social media tools, Microsoft Word and Excel

• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software and systems

• Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills

• Understanding of institutional and structural racism and its impact on underserved communities

• Positive attitude, high energy, and commitment to personal and professional excellence

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and family-centered environment for families enrolling in Lynn Public Schools.

• Greet families and assess their needs upon arrival, including walk-ins, and ensure the Welcome Center waiting area and children's area are welcoming, organized, and adequately stocked with appropriate materials.

• Provide direct assistance to families in person, by phone, and through email, using the Language Line when needed to ensure effective communication.

• Register new students according to district procedures and support families throughout the registration process.

• Provide families with clear information about district registration procedures, school policies, student placement, educational programs, language services, special education services, and other available supports.

• Connect families with community and school-based resources related to health care, health insurance, benefits, food insecurity, housing, homelessness, immigration-related concerns, and other basic needs.

• Support newcomer, unaccompanied minor, and economically disadvantaged families in navigating school and community resources and make appropriate referrals to school-based staff, including homeless liaisons, social workers, and other support personnel.

• Work collaboratively with schools, district departments, and community partners to address family needs, answer questions, and facilitate appropriate referrals and follow-up.

• Respond promptly to voicemails received through the main Welcome Center office line and follow up with families as appropriate.

• Manage the Welcome Center appointment scheduling system and assist families with scheduling appointments.

• De-escalate challenging interactions in the Welcome Center by following established district procedures and maintaining a respectful and supportive environment.

• Be available to work extended hours on Tuesday evenings during the enrollment season, June through September, as needed.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Welcome Center.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: REPORTS TO: Welcome Center Director DAYS: Twelve month position HOURS: Regular hours: 7:45-3:45 M-Th, 7:45-2:45 Friday School Vacations and Summer hours: 7:45-2:45 M-Th; Fridays 7:45-12:45 pm As needed; Extended Hours (June to September) Tuesdays 7:45am to 6:45 pm (Paid at hourly rate) SALARY: $68,051 BENEFITS: The City of Lynn offers comprehensive and competitive health and dental benefits; Harvard Pilgrim PPO/HMO, Altus Dental High/Low, and Vision Insurance.
