About this role
STAR Project Ballymun is a Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Programme, Family Support service & Easy Street outreach team. STAR works from Trauma Informed Care approach underpinned by the Resonance Factor and other evidence-based approaches. STAR is seeking a CE Support Worker to provide the rehabilitation programme support with the staff team and services. This post may be suitable to someone in recovery or who has an understanding and interest in working in the area of substance use and community development. Under the direction and support of the staff team the role includes the following duties: •To work in conjunction with the CE Supervisors, Project Manager, Programme Co-ordinator & staff team as an effective & supportive team member providing support & interventions to the recovering substance users •To support the staff in the delivery of day-to-day activities provided within services •To co-facilitate group discussion & provide support to other team members •To liaise with relevant referral & support agencies & local community •Support clients in/out of centre work in a range of settings (court, leisure activities, housing appointments etc.) •Ensure strict confidentiality is maintained at all times so that any matters relating to participants is strictly not discussed outside work •Assist & observe participants on break times to ensure safe boundaries are maintained •General administrative & office duties, maintain attendance & database records •Attend any relevant & approved training/development as required to support tutors & staff team & to comply with the CE scheme to support one’s personal & professional development & progression. Training will be identified through the Individual Learner Plan •Attend staff team meetings, planning meetings & supervisions • Further training will be provided to undertake the following duties with support at all times: •To take part in the delivery of group work & to assist the staff team •Carry out crisis intervention & brief interventions as part of client work •To carry out the 1 to 1 keyworking sessions •To do outreach and follow up where appropriate •Other additional duties relevant to the post as directed Skills & Abilities: •Basic level of computer skills •Good communication skills to deal with the public & participants •Be open to working with people with substance use issues •Ability to work within professional boundaries with support & training •Ability to work as part of a team & on own initiative where required •Be willing to upskill & attend training to enhance the role.
