About this role
Kennel Assistant Assistant within our rescue and rehoming centre. This role provides experience and learning to support staff with daily operations. Feeding, cleaning, exercising, and general dog care Intake and rehoming processes Interacting with dog wardens, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and deliveries. This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. Formal Training: • Training in kennel routines and hygiene • Feeding and basic care procedures • Intake and rehoming paperwork • Communication protocols with wardens, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and deliveries Informal Training: • Observing canine behaviour and body language • Understanding daily workflow in a kennel environment • Shadowing enrichment, exercise, and general care activities • Developing confidence in teamwork and communication
