As a key member of our front-of-house team, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming, professional and helpful service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Main duties of the job
You will be a key member of our reception team, helping to ensure patients receive a friendly, efficient and professional service. You will welcome and support patients, handle enquiries both in person and by telephone, and help coordinate appointments and other administrative requests. You will work closely with colleagues across the practice to ensure the smooth running of our busy reception area and provide a positive experience for our patients.

We are a friendly and supportive GP practice based in the heart of Bury Town Centre, caring for approximately 4,500 patients. We are a close-knit team who take pride in providing high-quality, personalised care and a welcoming experience for our patients.
Our practice is made up of a diverse clinical and administrative team, including GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Practice Nurse, Nursing Associate, Pharmacists and First Contact Practitioner, supported by our dedicated reception and administrative staff. We work collaboratively and value the important contribution that every member of our team makes to the practice.
Our reception team plays a vital role in ensuring patients feel welcomed, listened to and supported when they contact the practice. Job description Job responsibilities Main Responsibilities
Provide a welcoming and professional first point of contact for patients attending or contacting the practice.Deal with patient enquiries in person, by telephone and through other communication channels in a helpful and courteous manner.Book, amend and cancel appointments in accordance with practice procedures.Ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate service or member of the practice team where required.Process administrative requests and information accurately and efficiently.Liaise with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, administrative colleagues and other members of the practice team to support patient care.Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information and records, following practice procedures.Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and in accordance with GDPR and practice policies.Support the smooth running of the reception area and assist colleagues during busy periods.Deal with challenging or difficult situations calmly, professionally and sensitively, seeking support from colleagues when appropriate.Follow practice policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety and infection prevention and control.Undertake general administrative duties to support the effective running of the practice.Participate in training and development as required and contribute positively to the wider practice team.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Good standard of general education, including literacy and numeracy. Ability to use basic IT systems and undertake computer-based administrative tasks. Willingness to undertake relevant training and develop knowledge of primary care systems and procedures.
Desirable
Previous training or qualification relating to medical administration or primary care.
