This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical and leadership skills within the inpatient specialist stroke rehabilitation pathway, with opportunities to work across inpatient, community, and outpatient settings.
Main duties of the job Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist physiotherapy assessment and interventions for adults within the stroke rehabilitation pathway. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support timely hospital discharges and improve patient outcomes. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans, promoting independence and wellbeing. Offer clinical supervision, training, and leadership to junior staff and students. Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate records and uphold the highest standards of professional practice.

Job description Job responsibilities The Specialist Physiotherapist (Band 6) will provide physiotherapy services within the inpatient specialist stroke rehabilitation pathway at Haywood Hospital, with some work across community and outpatient settings. The role involves assessing and managing complex therapeutic needs, developing and implementing care plans, and supporting timely hospital discharges. The post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and promote independence

Deliver specialist physiotherapy assessment and interventions for adults with stroke and related conditions. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment and care plans. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and discharge planning. Provide clinical supervision, training, and leadership to junior staff and students. Maintain accurate records and uphold professional standards in line with HCPC and CSP guidelines. Contribute to service development, innovation, and quality improvement initiatives. Support the emotional needs of patients and carers, offering reassurance and empathy.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent. Registration with HCPC
Desirable
Experience / relevant training in Stroke
Experience Essential
Previous experience of working within the NHS as a Physiotherapist Relevant experience to the role including assessment and management of various conditions within the area of clinical speciality. Working in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to manage time and caseload effectively.
Desirable
Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations. Experience of risk management including risk assessment, action planning & evaluation
Skills Essential
Evidence of specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the post. Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC /CSP standards and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Children. Awareness of relevant NSF's and NICE guidance.
