Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team on a 6-month fixed-term contract for up to 4 sessions per week.
Main duties of the job
The Salaried GP will work as an autonomous practitioner, providing safe, high-quality and patient-centred general medical services to the practice population. The postholder will work collaboratively with the GP Partners, Salaried GP, nursing team, ARRS colleagues and the wider practice team, while maintaining the professional standards expected by the GMC.The postholder will contribute to the effective running and continued development of the practice, including clinical governance, quality improvement, education and the delivery of contractual and locally commissioned services.
About us
We are a friendly, well-established practice caring for approximately 5,900 patients across our two sites in Tean and Blythe Bridge. Our clinical team includes 3 GP Partners, a Salaried GP, Practice Nurses and Healthcare staff, supported by our experienced management, administration, reception and dispensary teams. We are supported by a strong ARRS workforce including a Mental Health Practitioner, First Contact Physiotherapist, Care Coordinators, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Social Prescribers and Health and Wellbeing Coaches. We use a triage model for GP appointment requests to support capacity and access, while helping patients reach the most appropriate clinician or service. We are a GP training and teaching practice, providing a supportive learning environment for GP trainees and medical students.

Clinical responsibilities
Provide face-to-face, telephone and other appropriate consultations, assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing patients presenting with acute, long-term and complex conditions. Undertake appropriate clinical examinations, investigations, referrals and follow-up, arranging onward care where required.Prescribe safely and effectively in line with current evidence, local formularies, medicines optimisation guidance and antimicrobial stewardship principles. Develop and review care plans with patients, supporting shared decision-making, self-management, preventative healthcare and health promotion. Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical risk, deteriorating patients, safeguarding concerns and urgent or emergency presentations. Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate and in accordance with practice arrangements. Maintain accurate, clear, contemporaneous and confidential clinical records using the practice clinical system.Clinical administration
Complete all self-generated clinical administration arising from consultations, including referrals, prescriptions, tasks, correspondence and follow-up, accurately and within agreed timescales. Undertake an appropriate share of pathology and laboratory results, reviewing and acting on results safely and promptly. Participate in the practice arrangements for Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) prescription signing. Review and act on hospital correspondence and other clinical documents allocated to the postholder. Support the appropriate management of workflow and communicate clearly with patients and colleagues regarding agreed actions and follow-up.

Qualifications Essential
Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC Full GMC registration with a licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List MRCGP or equivalent recognised qualification Evidence of continuing professional development and compliance with appraisal and revalidation requirements
Experience Essential
Experience of working in UK general practice or primary care Sound knowledge of current clinical guidance and safe prescribing Understanding of safeguarding, clinical governance and information governance
Desirable
Understanding of the GMS contract, QOF, QIF and enhanced services Experience of training, teaching, audit or quality improvement
skills Essential
