Job summary
This post is suitable for a band 6 dietitian with experience in diabetes. We will also consider an experienced band 5 dietitian, who would like to progress to a band 6 diabetes dietitian. Training will be provided and on completion of competencies the post holder will progress to a band 6 position. This is expected to take 6-12 months dependent upon previous experience.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a diabetes dietitian to join the dietetic team at Hereford County Hospital. The dietetic team comprises of 16 dietitians and 4 dietetic assistants.
Main duties of the job
The diabetes dietitians work closely with the wider diabetes MDT to provide 1:1 and group education/ promote self-management to patients with all types of diabetes across Herefordshire. Specialist services include antenatal service, insulin pump clinics and young adult clinics.
Post-registration experience in diabetes is desirable for this post however training can be provided. You will be supported in your role by the Band 7 diabetes dietitians.
The successful candidate will have a caseload of face to face outpatient clinics, virtual outpatient clinics, MDTs and structured education groups for all types of diabetes.

BSc / MSc / PGDip in Nutrition and Dietetics Current HCPC registration

BDA member Post qualification training in diabetes Basic Clinical Supervisory Skills training
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Essential
Excellent knowledge of Diabetes and its treatments Communication , motivation and negotiation skills able to plan and prioritise own worload good presentation and teaching skills
Experience Essential
