As our fundraising income continues to grow, we're looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Charity Finance Administrator to join our team.
About the role
This is a pivotal role at the heart of our charity's operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all charitable income is processed accurately, financial records are maintained to the highest standard, and compliance requirements are met.
Working closely with fundraising, finance and charitable funds colleagues, you'll help ensure every donation is managed responsibly and has the greatest possible impact for patients, families and staff.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities
*Process and reconcile income from a variety of fundraising and payment platforms.
*Administer Gift Aid claims and maintain HMRC compliance.
*Manage the charity lottery administration and regulatory returns.
*Maintain accurate cashbooks and financial records.
*Process donations received through appeals, mailings and postal giving.
*Raise purchase orders and support expenditure monitoring.
*Support charitable fund management and reporting.
*Assist with audits, governance requirements and financial reporting.
*Help identify and implement improvements to finance processes and systems.
About you
We're looking for someone who is:
*Experienced in finance administration, income processing or charity finance.
*Highly accurate with excellent attention to detail.
*Confident using Excel, spreadsheets and financial systems.
*Experienced in reconciling financial transactions and resolving discrepancies.
*Organised and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
*A strong communicator who can work effectively with colleagues, donors and external stakeholders.
*Comfortable working independently while knowing when to seek advice and support.

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge. We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979. Qualifications Essential
GCSEs: A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, which must strictly include Mathematics and English (or an equivalent level 2 qualification) 2 to 3 A-Levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualifications, such as a Business Administration NVQ Level 3)
Desirable
Professional Finance Qualifications *AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians): While a full Level 4 Professional Diploma is often preferred or listed as desirable, holding or actively studying toward an AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma (or equivalent accounting concept knowledge) is standard for Band 4. *Equivalent Experience: Trusts frequently state that an NVQ Level 3/4 or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through practical experience in a transactional finance or accounting environment can satisfy this requirement.
Experience Essential
*A broad range of work procedures and practices, predominantly nonroutine, requiring intermediatelevel theoretical knowledge. This includes knowledge of administrative procedures--such as specialised IT systems, project management, and training processes--gained through formal training or experience to diplomalevel equivalent. *Experience in finance administration, income processing or charity finance. *Experience working with CRM systems and financial software. *Experience reconciling income from multiple platforms. Experience working in a regulated environment such as a charity, NHS organisation or public sector body *Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail. *Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines. *Expert user of Excel and financial spreadsheets. *Highly proficient in keyboard use for accurate and efficient financial data entry. Ability to interpret financial information and resolve discrepancies. *Strong communication skills for liaising with donors, suppliers and internal teams. *Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. *This role is managed rather than closely supervised. You willl work independently within agreed guidelines, using your judgement to carry out daytoday tasks and knowing when to seek advice or refer matters to your manager when needed.
