Job SummaryThe Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Wildlife Services (WS), Pocatello Supply Depot (PSD) is located in Pocatello, Idaho, and supports the WS program by manufacturing, procuring, and distributing specialized wildlife damage management products. The physical plant includes office and warehouse space in addition to manufacturing equipment used in the production of grain baits and a variety of other specialty products employed in wildlife damage control operations.
QualificationsApplicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: - Utilizing and interpreting Federal, State, and local regulations which have a bearing on operational wildlife management and the facility's programs. - Experience in the toxicology and other properties of dangerous materials specifically handled by plant employees and of the chemical and physical processes involved in existing and proposed manufacturing operations. - Analyzing and resolving difficult issues and problems in supply processes, work methods, and supply data management. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Major DutiesThe duties may include, but are not limited to:Supervises, directs and oversees operation of the PSD. Sets manufacturing, quality control, distribution, administrative and sales policiesPlans future activities and products to meet changing needs and ensures continued productive operationEnsures that all pesticide products manufactured or distributed have been properly registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and State regulatory agenciesSets safety and quality standards for operations and serves as Safety Officer for the PSD.Provides technical, biological and chemical information to individuals, groups, and agencies on request, regarding properties of pesticides and other wildlife damage control materialsProvides recommendations and status updates to WS Management regarding PSD daily operations and related operating requirementsSupervises the manufacturing/warehouse operations and administrative functions for the PSD
