For Internal Candidates: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing construction plans for compliance with national fire codes, 2) Performing technical inspections of facilities to identify fire risk, 3) Providing technical guidance on fire safety regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). For External Candidates: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing construction plans for compliance with national fire codes, 2) Performing technical inspections of facilities to identify fire risk, 3) Providing technical guidance on fire safety regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess Fire Officer IIl, Fire Inspector Ill or Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor II, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. Major DutiesPlans work schedules and sequence of operations to ensure the meeting of scheduled and priority assignments that the higher level supervisor establishes.Provides employees direct administrative and technical guidance on work requirements and procedures.Attends pre-design meetings and provides information for user and architect on fire code requirements both locally and nationally.Keeps current with state-of-the-art fire protection equipment to ensure that the installation meets fire code requirements.Maintains contact with operating officials to promote cooperative relations and ready compliance with fire protection measures, when regulatory violations are noted.
