QualificationsWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Managing scientific publishing activities involving editorial review, production processes, publication standards, and/or dissemination of scientific information to professional or public health audiences. Overseeing scientific journal operations by coordinating editorial, production, and/or communication activities to ensure timely completion and delivery of scientific products. Implementing scientific publishing and/or communication practices to ensure scientific information is accurately translated and effectively disseminated through traditional or digital platforms. Major DutiesWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Health Communications Officer, you will: Establish policies and procedures to ensure scientific communication products meet organizational requirements for quality, accuracy, timeliness, and integrity. Direct organizational resources and establish operational priorities to support the effective functioning of a scientific communication program. Lead strategies to expand the reach and impact of emerging infectious disease information among public health partners, professional organizations, communities, and other audiences. This position has 20% supervisory duties, candidates must also have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
