Please Note: Due to the nature of this service, this role is open to women only. This occupational requirement is applied in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and includes women whose legal gender is female, including those who hold a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).
SALARY: £28,500 per annum + Benefits
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
LOCATION: Bexhill, East Sussex
WORKING HOURS: 10am–10pm on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern
JOB OVERVIEW
This is a rewarding opportunity for a Residential Support Worker to help women move towards safer, more secure futures through trauma-informed, person-centred support.
Working within a refuge and the local community, the Residential Support Worker will help create a safe, structured environment that builds confidence, independence and practical life skills.
The Residential Support Worker will work with colleagues and partner agencies, combining relationship-building, safeguarding, accurate records and calm responses to challenging situations.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Residential Support Worker include:
Resident Support and Relationships: Build positive professional relationships and provide trauma-informed, person-centred supportIndependence and Life Skills: Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure, creative and therapeutic activities that encourage confidence and independenceResident Welcome and Induction: Welcome and induct new residents into the serviceSafety and Welfare: Promote a safe, respectful environment and complete regular welfare and building checksRecords and Confidentiality: Record important information accurately and maintain confidential recordsChallenging Situations: Respond calmly and sensitively to challenging situations and provide appropriate supportPartnership Working: Work with criminal justice and support agencies to help residents achieve positive outcomesEmergency Responsibilities: Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required

This is an occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 due to the nature and context of the serviceGood literacy and numeracy skillsUnderstanding of safeguardingAble to work independently and as part of a teamAble to work a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidaysEmpathetic and resilient, with the ability to handle confidential information sensitivelyConfident communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds and able to remain calm under pressureProfessional, organised and able to maintain appropriate boundaries and accurate recordsCommitted to safeguarding and promoting wellbeing Desirable
Experience in residential care, supporting women, criminal justice, behaviour change or housing supportExperience supporting people with multiple or complex needsExperience delivering group activities or one-to-one supportExperience within a women’s refuge or domestic abuse serviceKnowledge of housing pathways and accommodation options for survivorsMedication experience or training
