Facility Maintenance and Cleaning
• Perform routine janitorial cleaning and maintenance services for designated department facilities.
• Maintain facilities in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
• Assist with special-projects cleaning.
• Properly operate and care for department cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and remain productive with limited supervision.
• Follow all applicable Town and Department policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Become familiar with and properly follow Department procedures related to assigned duties.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Danville Parks management staff.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Working knowledge of general cleaning principles and practices.
• Ability to learn the proper use of Department equipment.
• Ability to become knowledgeable of applicable Town and Department policies and procedures.
Communication and Customer Service
Strong desire to provide helpful and courteous service to the public and coworkers.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with individuals of varying ages and backgrounds.
Ability to interact with coworkers and members of the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
Friendly, mature, trustworthy, dependable, and responsible.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
• Stand; walk; talk or hear; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move, with assistance, more than 80 pounds with the use of personal safety equipment.
