UX Researcher
Nureva is seeking a highly motivated UX Researcher to join our UX team in a hybrid capacity (3 days in office) in either our Ottawa or Calgary locations.

As a UX Researcher, you will work closely with customers, product managers, developers, and UX designers to uncover insights that shape product decisions. Through both generative and evaluative research, you will help teams understand customer needs, validate solutions, and improve user experiences. Embedded within agile development teams, you will bring a customer perspective to every stage of product development and create wireframes and concepts that help teams explore and validate solutions before implementation.

You will:
• Plan, conduct, and manage research activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Engage directly with customers to understand their needs, workflows, challenges, goals, and decision-making processes.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, surveys, diary studies, and observational research.
• Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and developers to translate research insights into product requirements and experience improvements.
• Create artifacts such as personas, journey maps, storyboards, flow diagrams, and wireframes to communicate customer needs and user experiences.
• Create wireframes, concepts, and prototypes in Figma to communicate design intent, explore solutions, and support usability testing, and product development.
• Develop a strong understanding of our hardware, software, and product development processes to ensure research findings and design recommendations improve the user experience.
• Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving customer needs within the audio and collaboration technology space.
You have:
• A university degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Anthropology, Sociology, User Experience Research, or a related discipline. Software development experience is considered an asset.
• Experience in UX research, UX design, product design, human factors, or a similar user-centered role.
• A strong portfolio to showcase your skills.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and storytelling skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence decisions through evidence-based insights.
• Strong critical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities.
• A passion for understanding customer behavior and translating insights into business and product value.
• Proficiency with collaborative design and research tools such as Figma and Miro.
• Experience applying user-centered design methodologies and evaluating user-interface patterns through research.
• A creative and natural problem-solving aptitude and have demonstrated good design process.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have:
• Experience with Audio technologies, including hobbies and interests.
• Experience designing for IoT devices or software that interfaces with hardware.
• Experience researching or designing mobile, web, or cross-platform user experiences.
• Experience in designing AI-enabled experiences.
• Experience with UX metrics and measuring user experience outcomes over time.
• Experience with accessibility research and inclusive design practices.
• Experience working within an Agile or Scrum product development environment.
