Along with its breathtaking beauty, this area boasts a welcoming community and outstanding recreation opportunities.Position OverviewThe Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) is now accepting applications for the position of Emergency Program Coordinator, based out of Salmon Arm, BC.Reporting to the Manager, Protective Services (Regional Fire Chief), the Emergency Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District's emergency management program. The position supports preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery, and business continuity initiatives through planning, training, exercising, public education, stakeholder engagement and program development. The Coordinator develops, implements and evaluates emergency management strategies and plans based on identified hazards, risks and vulnerabilities within the region and serves in the Emergency Operations Centre during activations.Key duties and responsibilities Works closely with CSRD staff and maintains a strong understanding of departmental operations to provide information, advice, and direction related to emergency preparedness and emergency management services for internal and external stakeholders throughout the region, including the City of Salmon Arm and the District of Sicamous. Develops, implements, and reviews strategic plans related to emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and business continuity. Monitors progress toward program objectives and evaluates overall program effectiveness. Ensures an integrated and collaborative approach to program reviews, emergency and contingency planning, and the coordination of related plans with partner organizations, neighbourhoods, businesses, and community groups. Maintains emergency personnel and critical services contact information and prepares recommendations to support continuous program improvement and legislative compliance. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with committees, member municipalities, First Nations, provincial and federal response agencies, Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR), non-government organizations, volunteer groups, and other stakeholders. Responds to inquiries from the public, volunteers, and response agencies by providing specialized emergency preparedness information and guidance in person, by phone, email, and written correspondence. Oversees the recruitment, training, coordination, and evaluation of volunteers. Develops staffing plans for key Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) functions and provides operational guidance and support as required. Coordinates training and exercise programs for staff and volunteers, including access to provincially supported training opportunities, development of annual training schedules, oversight of exercise design, and maintenance of training records. Supports administrative functions by assisting with annual budget preparation, grant applications, work planning, project coordination, research initiatives, report preparation, correspondence, and committee administration. Prepares meeting agendas, attends meetings, and ensures minutes are accurately recorded and distributed. Coordinates community emergency preparedness and public awareness initiatives through the development and delivery of presentations, educational materials, and outreach activities. Maintains operational readiness of the primary Emergency Operations Centre, including the procurement, tracking, and management of equipment, supplies, and resources required during incidents and emergencies. During EOC activations, serves primarily as the Liaison Off
