Regional District of Central OkanaganCommunity Safety CoordinatorAre you a service-driven professional with experience working in community and public safety? If so, we want you on our Protective Services Team!The Community Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting all day-to-day services for Community Safety Programs in the RDCO. This position facilitates volunteer participation, maintains tip information with accuracy and confidentiality, assists in organizing community outreach events, and provides administrative support to help strengthen public awareness and build a safer, more connected community.You will:1. Support effective promotion of Community Safety Programs program by working with Communications to produce media releases, presentations, and promotional materials such as: Unsolved Crimes. Mug Shots and Most Wanted features. Public Service Announcements. Advertisements. Newsletters and Articles. You-Tube and Facebook social media postings. Crime Re-enactments (Global) Hot Recs program (Stolen ATV?s, etc.)2. Coordinate and assist with all services related to the Crime Stoppers P3 tip data: Maintain Crime Stoppers and RCMP files. Communicate with the public to respond to tipster queries, arrange payments, follow and conclude tips. Communicate with and distribute relevant tip information to the RCMP and other investigative authorities. Ensure proper closure of tips and removal of suspects from active files when appropriate. Ensure accurate documentation and secure handling of sensitive information.3. Assist with event participation and community outreach: Assist in preparing for and participating at promotional public and community events. Promote volunteer opportunities to the public. Reach out to community members to raise awareness and interest in the program. Provide information and answer questions about volunteer roles and responsibilities. Collect and process applications or expressions of interest.4. Provide administrative support including: Track and maintain monthly program statistics. Acts as the primary point of contact for the telephone line and e-mail enquiries. Assist in the day-to-day administration of the existing community policing programs. Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and program activities. Support communication and coordination between volunteers and program leads. Assist in the creation and delivery of Community Safety Crime Prevention programs.5. Other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of Post-Secondary Diploma in Office Administration, Communications, Public Relations and a minimum of two years? experience in a related field including experience working with volunteers. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience maybe considered. You will hold a valid BC drivers? license and must be able to obtain and maintain RCMP Security Clearance.This is a full time, continuous position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00pm including a one-hour unpaid lunch.
