The Children and Young People's (CYPS) Directorate in Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join the well-established multi-disciplinary Mindworks Hub North. Mindworks Hubs are part of Mindworks Surrey, an alliance of NHS, national and local voluntary sector organisations providing mental health services to children in Surrey using the THRIVE approach.
This full-time post will be suitable for a passionate and highly motivated Assistant Psychologist interested in ensuring excellent psychological care is accessible for children and young people with complex mental health needs from diverse backgrounds.
Psychology in SABP has a history of being highly valued and clinicians are well supported to develop their generic and specialist skills. The postholder will become an integral member of a dynamic, compassionate and supportive multi-disciplinary team and will have access to regular, high-quality supervision and CPD opportunities.
Main duties of the job
You will be involved in supporting assessments, formulations, the delivery and evaluation of a range of psychological interventions (group and individual) under the direction and supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, who will retain clinical responsibility for clinical work, in line with the agreed treatment plan. You will support the wider team with administering, analysing and reporting on Routine Outcome Measures. You will assist in clinically related administration, participate in audit, service evaluation and/or research and undertake other relevant project work under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. You will be conducting reviews, alongside clinical psychologists and other specialist therapists, to ensure that the needs of children and young people waiting for specialist interventions are well understood and safely met. Working as part of the MDT, you will adapt trauma informed care and iThrive framework principles. Specific duties will be determined based on skills, experience and operational service requirements, and may vary occasionally as service needs/priorities change.

To carry out comprehensive assessments, plan implement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions under the supervision of a psychologist as part of a holistic approach working in a variety of settings. To actively work with people who use services, carers, families and staff in implementing the care plan devised by the psychologist. To act as an advocate and ensure that there is proper regard for peoples dignity, choice, self-esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences. To take appropriate and immediate action to keep people safe in a crisis or safeguarding situation, reporting back to a senior colleague in a timely manner. To observe and document any changes in wellbeing of the people that they are supporting, reporting to the professional or team manager any new or change in risk or presentation of the person, and updating risk assessments as required. To work in partnership with people in other health and social care settings. To establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, other agencies, people who use services and their families. To maintain high standards of care in all areas of work in accordance with the Trust Policies and Procedures. To act within Mental Capacity Act (2005).
