Job SummaryAbout the Position: Serves as the District Security Officer, fulfilling the roles of the Chief, Security and Protection and the Omaha District Security Manager. The Security Officer works under the supervision of the Chief of Staff, Omaha District, who sets the overall objectives and decides on the resources available.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Major DutiesBriefs, advises, and makes recommendations to the supervisor and leadership on the status and needs of organization protection programs and situation-appropriate protection measures.Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs protection actions taken by organization operations to ensure conformance to regulations, directives, and policies.Coordinates and has oversight of responsibility for the organization Threat Awareness and Reporting program (TARP), a counterintelligence program that provides protection from foreign espionage.Responsible for executing organization Information, Personnel, and Industrial Security requirements.Makes assignments and work/shift-schedules, establishes priorities, and provides advice and assistance as required.Informs subordinates of pertinent policies and procedures and changes to technical and administrative guidelines.Plans, coordinates, and tracks training procedures supporting the organizations various Protection and Security Programs as required by law and other various program guidelines.
