Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. applying transportation policies/regulations to support efficient routing; 2. Supporting cargo movement operations by reviewing transportation documentation for accuracy; 3. applying established transportation regulations to routine shipment decisions; and 4. use of DoD transportation systems such as: GATES, IBS, ICODES, GFM, JOPES, to track cargo. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Major DutiesMonitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with transportation contracts.Resolve contract-related problems by coordinating with carriers, contractors, and government offices.Respond to shipper and carrier inquiries by providing accurate cargo movement information.Coordinate with commercial carriers to resolve issues affecting cargo movement.Identify and resolves cargo movement issues to ensure uninterrupted shipment flow.Trace unaccounted cargo to determine the source of shipment discrepancies.Plan and coordinates the movement of cargo through terminals within the area of responsibility.Determine optimal handling and routing of cargo to maximize efficiency within the Defense Transportation System.
