Job SummaryThis position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), El Paso Division. This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as the Division Security Officer (DSO) for the El Paso Division. You will direct the lifecycle of the division's security program, overseeing its development, planning, execution, and management.

Applicants applying for the GS-12 must meet the following requirements: Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, and your experience includes performing ALL of the tasks listed as part of your regular duties: 1) Supporting security programs related to physical, personnel, information, communications or other security areas; 2) Applying established security policies, procedures, and requirements 3) Identifying and assisting with resolving security related issues; 4) Participating in security reviews, assessments, inspections or other security activities. Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet the following requirements: Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, and your experience includes performing ALL of the tasks listed as part of your regular duties: 1) Managing or supporting security programs related to physical, personnel, information, communications , or other security areas; 2) Developing, reviewing, interpreting or implementing security policies, procedures, or program requirements; 3) Analyzing and resolving security-related issues or concerns. 4) Conducting or coordinating security reviews, assessments, inspections, inquiries, or other program activities; 5) Developing or recommending security program improvements, corrective actions or solutions. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Major DutiesAs a Division Security Officer, your typical work assignments may include: Serving as the technical expert that administers and maintains continuing responsibility and management of the Personnel Security Program by implementing DEA and local policies and procedures. Serving as the liaison for security related matters with other federal agencies or organizations (e.g., GSA, DHS, DoS, etc.). Processing requests for clearance/access, changes to position sensitivity designation, and investigations. Planning, developing, coordinating and implementing appropriate physical security/crime prevention programs and policies for the Division. Serving as the subject matter expert, responsible for the information security, COMSEC requirements, and compliance of all Division offices. Conducting physical security inspections of facilities.
