QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Providing expert advice and recommendations for manufacturing techniques and fabrication management, applying new theories to solve complex problems and advance agency policies; Exercising delegated managerial authority to set long range work plans, allocate resources, address budget constraints, and plan for future workforce needs; Conducting comprehensive analyses of program functions, developing solutions to management problems, and recommending improvements to policies, practices, or organizational structure. Major DutiesProvides leadership, guidance, and technical direction to division staff and supervisors.Defines, implements, and evaluates manufacturing workflows and business processes.Supports hardware development for agency programs at Ames and other NASA centers, as well as external partners.Identifies strategic objectives, acquires resources, and manages assignments, schedules, and performance metrics.Ensures a safe and healthy work environment through resources, training, and compliance.Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
