About this role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will join our Brentwood team to support our activities within the marine, industrial, and automotive engineering sectors.
You will lead the design and development of innovative engineering solutions supporting alternative power and fuel system integration. Working across the full product lifecycle, from concept through manufacture, testing, and deployment, you will collaborate with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and certification bodies to deliver safe, practical, and high-quality engineering solutions.

Generate innovative engineering designs using proven technologies alongside creative problem-solving approachesLead mechanical design activities from concept development through detailed design and productionApply Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the design processCollaborate with CAE engineers to meet structural, vibration, and fluid flow performance requirementsProduce design reports and deliver technical presentations to senior stakeholdersEnsure CAD designs are structured and released in line with Bill of Materials (BoM) requirementsCoordinate with Project Managers and Principal Engineers to achieve project objectives, schedules, and cost targetsSupport the continuous improvement of engineering design processes, standards, and methodologiesMentor and support junior engineers within the design teamEnsure designs comply with applicable engineering and regulatory standards throughout the product lifecycle Required Skills:
Strong mechanical design engineering experience across complex engineering productsExperience delivering projects from concept through manufacture and deploymentProficiency in CAD design tools, ideally CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX)Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)Ability to interpret and work with P&ID drawingsKnowledge of structural and vibration analysis principlesUnderstanding of electrical cable routing and management techniquesStrong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teamsRequired Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.10–15 years of mechanical design engineering experienceExperience working to international engineering and regulatory standardsDemonstrable experience leading engineering design activities and supporting product development programmesDesirable Skills:
Experience across multiple sectors such as automotive, marine, industrial, or alternative energyExperience integrating alternative fuel or propulsion systemsPrevious mentoring or technical leadership experienceFamiliarity with low-carbon technologies and sustainable engineering solutionsExperience working with certification bodies and regulatory stakeholders Why join us?
