About this role
Eurofins PSS is seeking a passionate and dedicated Single Cell Omics Scientist. The candidate will work directly on the client site in Cambridge, MA and will play a pivotal part in generating high-quality single-cell and multi-omics data to drive discovery, validation, and translational programs.
Working at the interface of wet-lab biology and computational science, the candidate will apply state-of-the-art single-cell assays, automation platforms, and high-throughput sequencing technologies. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams of experimental biologists, computational biologists, and data scientists to address complex biological questions and advance critical therapeutic pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Sample Preparation & Handling: Prepare, isolate, and quality-assess high-viability single-cell and single-nuclei suspensions from diverse and challenging biological sample types, adhering to rigorous quality standards.Workflow Design & Execution: Design and execute robust, large-scale single-cell and multi-omics workflows across various industry-standard platforms (e.g., 10x Genomics 3’/5’ and Flex, Parse Biosciences, Scale Bio).Laboratory Automation: Implement and optimize automated liquid handling and robotic workstations to streamline high-throughput sample processing and library construction.Sequencing Operations: Perform library quantification, quality control, and sequencing operations on Illumina platforms (e.g., NovaSeq).Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with experimental and translational biologists to understand project objectives, formulate experimental plans, and establish customized workflow strategies.Technical Communication & Documentation: Clearly document experimental procedures, assay parameters, and QC metrics. Generate comprehensive reports and deliver presentations to facilitate seamless handover to computational and bioinformatic teams.Technology Innovation: Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies, novel protocols, and computational trends in single-cell genomics to continually enhance laboratory capabilities.Compliance & Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entries and documentation of all experimental workflows, protocols, and data outputs. Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Master’s degree (M.S.) or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics, or a closely related discipline.Hands-on Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on laboratory experience focused on cell preparation, library generation, and quality assessment for single-cell transcriptomics and multi-omics assays and automation.Assay & Platform Expertise: Direct, demonstrable experience with major single-cell profiling platforms and chemistries (e.g., 10x Genomics 3’/5’ Gene Expression, 10x Flex, Parse Biosciences, Scale Bio).Cell Handling & Culture: Strong foundational expertise in mammalian cell culture, primary cell isolation, and gentle tissue dissociation/nuclei isolation techniques.Laboratory Automation: Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing automated liquid handling platforms for sample processing and library preparation.Genomic Data Literacy: Strong understanding of single-cell transcriptomic data structures, sequencing quality metrics, and downstream analytical requirements.Core Competencies:
Exceptional critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and experimental troubleshooting capabilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts across multidisciplinary teams.Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and effectively within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience conducting exploratory or downstream single-cell transcriptomic data analysis (e.g., using R/Python, Seurat, or Scanpy).Domain knowledge in the immunology of immune-mediated diseases or metabolic disease biology.Proven track record of designing, benchmarking, and implementing end-to-end single-cell assay pipelines.Demonstrated scientific contributions evidenced by a solid publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals. The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates living within a commutable range of Cambridge, MA are encouraged to apply.
