Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and supporting project accounting for real estate developments. This position requires a detail-oriented and hands-on professional with strong knowledge of accounting principles, real estate development cycles, and financial systems.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities and development projects.
• Maintain general ledgers, perform month-end and year-end closings.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
• Perform project accounting including cost tracking, budgeting, and variance analysis for active developments.
• Assist with preparation and review of development pro formas and financial models.
• Monitor and reconcile construction draws, loan compliance, and funding schedules.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
• Support budget preparation and forecasting activities.
• Identify process improvements and assist in the implementation of accounting system upgrades and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with development, asset management, and project management teams.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA or MBA preferred but not required. Candidates with equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and practical experience are encouraged to apply.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in real estate development or construction.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting (including job costing, WIP schedules, and construction draw processes).
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or Sage 300 (Timberline) is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Working Conditions:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
• Moves throughout the building to access files.
• Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
• Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
• May occasionally require the use of the employee's personal vehicle to complete office errands. Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the standard rate or reimbursement policy.
