Lead the Work That Keeps Our Community Safe
Brook Lane is seeking an experienced and decisive Manager of Security Operations & Emergency Preparedness to lead daily security operations and coordinate emergency planning and response.
This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for team members, residents, patients, students, and visitors. The Manager supervises security personnel, oversees security systems and incident response, develops security policies and procedures, and ensures emergency-preparedness activities meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do
Security Operations
• Supervise, train, and schedule security officers to maintain appropriate coverage
• Conduct routine and random security rounds and respond personally to incidents when needed
• Investigate security breaches, disturbances, thefts, and other incidents
• Prepare incident reports and recommend appropriate corrective actions
• Oversee access control, surveillance, visitor management, and key-control systems
• Support staff in managing aggressive or disruptive behavior with an emphasis on safety and de-escalation
• Provide orientation and ongoing education on security policies and workplace-violence prevention
• Oversee patient valuables, lost-and-found items, and secure-storage procedures
Emergency Preparedness and Response
• Coordinate emergency-response activities and serve as a key organizational resource during crisis situations
• Develop and maintain the Emergency Preparedness Plan and collaborate on Continuity of Operations Plans
• Plan, conduct, and document disaster drills in accordance with The Joint Commission and CMS standards
• Conduct and participate in the annual Hazard Vulnerability Analysis to evaluate natural, environmental, and human-caused risks
• Develop emergency-response plans for risks identified through the Hazard Vulnerability Analysis
• Coordinate active-assailant, evacuation, shelter-in-place, mass-casualty, fire, and hazardous-material exercises
• Monitor fire-protection system testing, coordinate fire drills, and support compliance with life-safety standards
• Train staff in emergency procedures, building safety, and the use of safety equipment
• Serve as a liaison to local police, fire, emergency medical services, and emergency-management agencies
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma
• At least three years of management experience in a security-related field
• Basic Life Support certification in accordance with organizational policy
• Ability to obtain de-escalation training within 90 days and maintain it throughout employment
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets requirements for the Meritus vehicle operated
• Ability to provide a certified driving record bi-annually and sign the required vehicle-use attestation
• Knowledge of healthcare security regulations and recognized security practices
• Strong leadership, decision-making, conflict-resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
• Proficiency with incident-reporting systems, access-control systems, and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree in criminal justice, security management, emergency management, or a related field
• Healthcare security experience
• No moving violations within the previous three years
• Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, Certified Protection Professional, or another relevant certification
Physical Requirements
This position has heavy physical demands and may involve exposure to adverse or hazardous conditions, including violent or physically aggressive behavior. Essential functions include frequent standing, walking, stair climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, and getting on and off the ground or floor.
