We're hiring a Unit Secretary for our Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology (CCL/IR) Department—someone who brings heart, hustle, and a sharp sense of how things move in a fast‑paced procedural environment. Certifications and clinical experience aren't required, but they're a big plus and can help you hit the ground running in this high‑acuity specialty area.

CCL/IR is a dynamic, technology‑driven department performing more than 1,100 cardiac catheterization procedures and over 800 interventional radiology procedures each year. From life‑saving cardiac interventions to minimally invasive image‑guided treatments, our team thrives on precision, collaboration, and exceptional patient care. As the Unit Secretary, you'll be the organizational anchor that keeps this complex environment running smoothly.

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of the Unit Secretary is to support throughput, patient safety, and daily workflow coordination for the CCL/IR team. You'll manage multiple requests simultaneously, organize critical information, and facilitate communication across nurses, physicians, technologists, and ancillary departments. You'll also ensure the accuracy and integrity of the medical record from patient arrival through discharge, contributing directly to safe, efficient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the central communication point for the CCL/IR unit, interacting with patients, physicians, nurses, technologists, and support staff

• Coordinate and prioritize daily unit activities to support safe, timely patient flow

• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation throughout the patient's visit

• Enter and verify physician orders in the electronic system (inpatient settings)

• Support scheduling, procedural coordination, and communication with referring departments

• Assist with clerical tasks including chart preparation, scanning, filing, and documentation management

• Communicate delays, updates, and workflow changes to the care team

• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies

• Navigate a high‑volume, high‑acuity environment with professionalism and strong organizational skills

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Completion of an accredited business or medical assistant course, or equivalent experience required

Experience

• Medical terminology, clerical typing skills, and experience with Windows‑based applications preferred

Licensure / Certification

• None required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to focus and perform effectively in an environment with diverse, complex, and concurrent activities

• Comfort interacting with 100+ individuals daily, including physicians, patients, visitors, and department leaders

• Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and patient‑centered service
