About this role
We are seeking a versatile Fireplace, Remodeling & Weatherization Carpenter to handle comprehensive residential repairs, energy-efficiency upgrades, and interior renovations. In this role, you will perform tasks ranging from building envelope enhancements and structural framing to light plumbing, electrical upgrades, and fine interior finishing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Weatherization, Air Sealing & Ventilation
• Replace exterior windows and doors, ensuring optimal air sealing, insulation, and flashing.
• Install ASHRAE-compliant exhaust fans, continuous ventilation systems, and ductwork to improve indoor air quality.
• Framing, Decks & Fireplaces
• Execute structural repairs to wall studs, joists, subfloors, and exterior framing.
• Frame out, install, and finish custom fireplaces (including mantels, surrounds, and backing material).
• Build, repair, and finish exterior decks, railings, and steps to local building codes.
• Plumbing Repairs & Fixtures
• Remove and replace tubs, shower enclosures, surrounds, and sub-bases.
• Disconnect and install residential water heaters (electric or gas models according to qualifications).
• Perform miscellaneous plumbing repairs, including pipe rerouting, valve replacements, and leak fixes.
• Electrical Upgrades & Minor Repairs
• Perform minor electrical repairs, device replacements (outlets, switches, fixtures), and circuit extensions for new installations.
• Wire and test ASHRAE fans, bathroom exhausts, and dedicated fireplace electrical feeds.
• Drywall, Flooring & Interior Painting
• Hang, tape, mud, sand, and texture drywall for repairs and new frame-outs.
• Perform complete interior painting, caulking, and trim touch-ups.
• Repair, patch, or replace subflooring and finish flooring materials.
Role Requirements:
3-5 years in residential remodeling, weatherization, or general contracting.

• Technical Proficiency:
• Advanced skill in framing, trim carpentry, drywall finishing, and painting.
• Solid working knowledge of basic plumbing (tub/shower installs, water heaters) and residential electrical systems.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation standards and residential energy efficiency practices.
• Certifications (not required but preferred): EPA Lead-Safe Certified Renovator, BPI (Building Performance Institute), OSHA 10/30.
Physical & License Requirements: Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, and comfort working on ladders, basements, and tight crawl spaces.
