The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mine Support Crew member to work productively in any assigned mine job and fill any vacancy including drilling, blasting, and mucking. This day shift position is located at Sweetwater Underground in Ellington, MO.
The work location may change as needed to support production and business needs within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri.
Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• ATF clearance.
• Perform 6 out of 8 skill assessments from the Entry Level Miner program.
• Mobile equipment certification.
• 5S/Lean manufacturing certification preferred.
• Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training.
• Successfully pass DRC specified proficiency exam.
• Successful completion of the Entry Level Miner Program or equivalent experience.
• One to three years of underground mining experience in a development miner, driller, mine support crew, loader operator, pillar fill crew, or ground control position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to communicate with supervisor and co-workers.
• Ability to perform minor mechanical work.
• Proficiency in hand scaling.
• Proficiency in roof bolting.
• Ability to operate mechanical scaler.
• Capable of performing basic blasting skills.
• Ability to climb vertical equipment ladders.
Responsibilities:
• Operate all underground mobile equipment, including roof bolter, forklift, etc.
• Perform basic hand scaling and mechanical scaling as needed.
• Crush ore at the crusher or load skips at the skip pocket as needed.
• Properly transport explosives to and from explosives magazines. Perform basic blasting.
• Fill any vacancy of the mine as directed by mine supervision.
• Perform an effective pre-operational inspection of the work area and address any issues before continuing.
• Perform maintenance on equipment and machines; change filters and tires, fuel and lubricate equipment.
• Load parts/supplies in and out of the mine.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment, Physical & Lifting:
• Regularly required to work underground and near moving, mechanical parts; frequently works in confined spaces and at heights of four feet or more, with fall protection. Regularly exposed to wet, humid conditions, vibration, and extreme heat; occasionally exposed to extreme cold. Exposed to loud noise levels.
• Regularly requires sitting, talking, hearing, feeling attributes of objects, grasping, driving, reaching with hands/arms, climbing or balancing, and repetitive movement; frequently requires standing and walking; occasionally requires pushing. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds; frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
