Shipping Lead
The Shipping Lead assists Area Coordinator in direction of shipping personnel including the assignment of work.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists Area Coordinator in direction of shipping personnel including the assignment of work.
• Ensures that personnel are effectively utilized based on individual qualifications.
• Enforces safety regulations; ensures permits are issued with Coordinator's approval, releases equipment, etc.
• Performs minor maintenance. Directs maintenance personnel to area equipment.
• Fills Material handler job to cover employee absence; Ability to perform Truck Loading, Rail Loading, and all dry shipping positions including front end loader operation.
• Must be able to follow written instructions and to pass DOT, OSHA and Process Safety Management written exams.
• Assists in the preparation and conducting of training and safety programs.
• Monitors breaks and lunch periods; monitors and gives feedback to Area Coordinator on employee performance.
• Trains new personnel.
• Write work orders or reports equipment problems so work orders can be written.
• Runs area samples; monitors and ensures that product quality standards are met.
• Reviews equipment checklists, (mobile equipment, etc.). Sign off on forms and deliver to the Area Coordinator's office at shift end.
• Reports on all unresolved problems to the Area Coordinator.
• Take ownership to make sure only quality products and equipment are shipped to meet our customers' needs.
• Ensures general housekeeping standards are maintained.
• Monitors safety procedures at truck and rail loading for compliance.
• Ensure rail tracks and roadways are free of AN and other debris.
• Ensures rail shack and break room are clean.
• Inspect roller beds to ensure cleanliness.
• Completes weekly Safety checklist.
• Inspects rail/truck-loading tanks on Friday night for AN build-up.
• Keeps truck and rail scale pit emptied
• Walk around both warehouses and picks up trash.
• Inspect the entrance to the warehouse for cleanliness.
• Maintain proper safety awareness and follow plant safety procedures and policies in all plant activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required by Area Coordinator.
• Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education: no minimum education requirements.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in an industrial setting preferred.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check, as condition of employment.

Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.
Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
