About this role
New Cathedral Cemetery, located in Baltimore, seeks candidates for a Family Service Counselor. The Family Service Counselor is responsible for developing rapport with clients and family members, with an emphasis on providing exceptional service. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for establishing and maintaining professional relationships, which are critical to success in this role. This position focuses on delivering outstanding customer service, conducting sales presentations, and educating clients and families about the various services offered by NCC, including monuments, cemetery lots, vaults, and other related products. To be successful in this role, candidates must possess exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Work hours are M-F 8:30 to 4PM, some Saturdays by appointment or during events on the property.
Essential Functions:
• Provides support to clients and family members, frequently conducting face-to-face conversations and meetings.
• Delivers exemplary personalized service and plays an essential role in generating revenue for the cemetery.
• Utilizes a collaborative approach and active listening skills to effectively answer questions and support family members.
• Provides tours of cemetery grounds.
• Designs and delivers presentations on cemetery lots, memorialization services, and other offerings available across multiple Catholic cemeteries.
• Creates potential referral opportunities through excellent customer service.
• Responds to telephone inquiries regarding cemetery products and services.
• Assists families with decisions related to traditional burial and cremation options, including the selection, sale, and design of memorial markers, monuments, urns, and other memorial products.
• Participates in overall cemetery operations within a collaborative office environment, including greeting guests, providing in-person, telephone, and online customer support, offering location assistance, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date sales-related documentation.
• Completes special assignments from the Cemetery Manager and performs other duties as needed to support family requests and daily business operations.
Position Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years of experience in face-to-face customer sales within a service-oriented business.
• Demonstrated compassion for those served through the ministry of caring for the deceased and their families.
• Strong written and verbal communication, listening, and office administration skills.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage and track multiple clients' needs simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for reporting and communication purposes.
• Basic to intermediate mathematical skills and experience with contract preparation and documentation.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to multitask effectively and prioritize responsibilities.
• Valid driver's license required.
Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00, Hourly
